DESCRIPTION:Already traumatised people can be further traumatised when engaging with services and needing to answer lots of questions. This workshop equips workers with practical strategies in conducting interviews in a culturally safe and trauma-informed way\, and responding to the personâ€™s distress. It will also address the vicarious trauma that workers may experience when exposed to the distress and difficult content when assisting traumatised people seeking assistance for a variety of issues. \n\n\nContent includes:\n\n\n\nRecognising and understanding trauma\nAdverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)\nImpacts of trauma on the brain\, memory and relationships\nEstablishing safety and trust\nEngaging effectively and building rapport\nQuestioning skills\nNavigating the challenges of memory and checking for understanding\nWhat to do if someone becomes distressed/has a panic attack/dissociates\nEmpowering people through providing information and allowing choice\nIdentifying supports\nClosing a session sensitively\nVicarious trauma\, boundaries\, and self-care\n\n\n\n\n\nWho should attend?\nRelevant to anyone who needs to get information through asking questions\, via a formal interview or more informal means\, from people who are suffering from some type of trauma\, in order to provide appropriate assistance and support services. \nCost:\nEarly Bird â€“ $315 | $288 concessionÂ (5 tickets available\, ends 2 months before event)\nStandard â€“ $350 | $320 concession\nNote â€“ there is a 5% late fee for registering after 8.30am the day before the event.
